miles, moments and the space in between

One Ordinary Monday

On a recent Monday morning while driving to work— it was different. It was quiet. I noticed a shift, imperceptible to an outside observer. I wasn’t replaying the past in my head or silently protesting life’s changes. Instead I felt calm, just driving and envisioning what comes next. I felt different. Not for one specific reason I could point to. I simply realized I had put down the sword and stopped fighting.

I had started accepting my life as it was unfolding.

I don’t know exactly when it happened. Maybe it was the solo trip to Europe. Maybe it was simply time doing what time does. Maybe it was the accumulation of small moments, quiet reflections, and difficult lessons. But in the routine of one ordinary Monday morning I realized the fight had grown silent.

I didn’t need to know why the noise had quieted. It was enough to realize it finally had and I welcomed it.

Somewhere along the way, bitterness and regret had softened into perspective. The questions that once demanded answers no longer seemed so urgent. A quietness had crept in, and for the first time in a long time, I found myself looking ahead more than looking back.

The space in between who I was and who I am becoming is still unfamiliar at times, but I am finally walking through it with my head held higher. I’m learning to breath in this new space.

There’s clarity here.

And for now, that’s enough.
